Montgomery County is joining Dayton and Ohio in taking action against opioid manufacturers and distributors.
Chief of the Prosecuting Attorney's Civil Division Mary E. Montgomery announced the lawsuit Tuesday along with the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, saying they're taking action to "investigate and litigate actionable claims that may be pursued against individuals and entities related to the marketing, prescribing, distribution or sale of opioids,"
Montgomery cited the Montgomery County Coroner in saying that 60 to 70 percent of all the bodies in the county morgue the summer of 2017 were overdose victims, and the Montgomery County Juvenile County saying that nearly a quarter of defendants who go through the courtroom are addicted to opioids or heroin.
