The Montgomery County Prevention Coalition (MCPC) will dedicate a new Suicide Prevention Mural in the Old North Dayton Neighborhood to bring awareness to suicide prevention for community members.

ADAMHS Executive Director Helen Jones-Kelley stated, “The need is great. In 2020 there was a 33% increase in crisis calls specific to suicide in Montgomery County.” Jones-Kelley added “MCPC's ability to bring the community together to raise awareness around suicide prevention serves our community well. The Old North Dayton Suicide Prevention Mural will bring hope, healing, and resources to our community for decades to come.”

Marty Smallwood, the owner of Buck Run Commercial Doors and Hardware, donated the space and teamed up with the Montgomery County Prevention Coalition to fill the empty space on their building with a positive message for community members. More than 50 MCPC members volunteered to paint the mural along with several community members.

The mural depicts earth broken into puzzle pieces, with the message “With you, the world is complete.” The mural will also include a QR code that will bring viewers to local suicide prevention resources, the story behind the mural, and more.
