CIT COMPANION COURSE FOR
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

The intensive 2-day training will provide behavioral health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively when a consumer has involvement with the criminal justice system. The training will be conducted under the instructional supervision of local CIT-trained police officers, county prosecutors, jail administrators and personnel, and probation/parole officers. The training will offer practical information for behavioral health professionals about the complex criminal justice system. At the conclusion of the 2-day training, the participants will be able to interact effectively with various criminal justice professionals while advocating for consumers.

  • Limitations of an officer’s authority
  • Criminal Justice Institutions
  • Legal issues
  • Understanding probation and parole
  • Law-enforcement ride-along

 ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Participants are required to attend all 16 hours and participate in an officer ride-along to receive a certificate of attendance and/or CEU’s.

Dress code: Business casual/Department casual

Cost:     FREE training for Montgomery County Alcohol Drug Addiction Mental Health Services provider agency staff, made possible by funds from the Montgomery County Human Services Levy.

 Pre-registration is required. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are provided each day.
